Escape Game Origin Story:
Since I was a kid, I’ve always been into puzzles. Whether it was putting together 1000-piece jigsaws or solving the daily jumble in the newspaper, there’s always been something satisfying about putting my brain to use. Technically, I suppose you could say my escape game origin story started early in my childhood with point-and-click video games like Myst… but my first real “physical” escape game came about thanks to a coworker bragging about her amazing experience at The Escape Game.
Okay, maybe there was a hint of jealousy involved. But after listening to someone talk about the detailed set they were immersed in and the unique puzzles they got to solve as they pulled off a real-life heist, I had to check it out myself… so I grabbed some coworkers, booked the room, and I’ve been a fan ever since.
More About Me:
Growing up in not-so-sunny Portland, Oregon, I always struggled to find activities I truly enjoyed. I was never the “outdoors-y” kid, choosing instead to spend my time playing video games and reading books. Through our yearly family trips to Silverwood up in northern Idaho, I also started to begin a fascination with theme parks and roller coasters which would eventually lead me to apply for the Disney College Program and ultimately lead to my move to Orlando.
Although I graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Professional Writing (and fully intended to make a career out of journalism) I’ve also always loved performing. What started as a seasonal gig doing Halloween Horror Nights at Universal eventually evolved into a full-time position in entertainment. But hey, at least I’m putting that degree to use now!
