Driving skills? Fastest car? Nah… you need those Lucky Dice!
You and your fellow co-workers are getting ready to tune into the annual Route 66 Cross Country Race that your boss, Johnny, is competing in. Suddenly, the phone rings and it’s a frantic Johnny telling you he forgot his lucky dice somewhere in the diner. Now it’s up to you and your co-workers to search the diner and find Johnny’s dice before the race starts!
Can you find Johnny’s Lucky Dice before the race starts?
A pleasantly unique story creates the backdrop for a fast paced and exciting game. Working at the Lucky Dice Diner will be a much more enjoyable job if the boss actually wins the Route 66 Cross Country Race.
The problem is, he’s only a so-so driver. In order for Johnny to have any real shot at first place, he needs those lucky dice!
Expedition Escape has absolutely nailed the 1950’s American Diner aesthetic. Red and white pleather booths, a genuine antique coke machine, counter top seating, and of course a twinkling jukebox all help make the space look more like an old restaurant than an escape game.
While Lucky Dice Diner is on the smaller side as far as footprint goes, there is a five course meals worth of interesting scenic elements to examine. Every wall, counter space, and even the floor has elements that build the overall scenic quality.
Small attention to details that many players may not even consciously notice elevates the level of immersion. Accurate lighting fixtures, checkered floor tiles, and an absolutely perfect ambient background noise soundtrack – one that seamlessly adjusts volume levels when other audio cues need to be heard – thoroughly transport restaurant employees back in time.
While the space is small, plenty of enjoyable reveals are waiting to be discovered!
Johnny must be really protective of his fuzzy dice seeing as he hid them at the end of a full hours worth of engaging puzzles!
Lucky Dice Diner utilizes a very multi-linear style of game play, leading to an experience that is chaotic in just the right way. Most of the challenges are not overly difficult, but the sheer volume of tasks that need to be completed makes this a game that will test even the most seasoned players while still being approachable for newer escapers.
Lots of hidden tech blends nicely with several alpha-numeric manual locks, balancing out the experience perfectly. Four digit codes are needed where they make sense, but are not relied on too heavily.
Creative tasks will require Lucky Dice employees to use all of their senses in ways that perfectly fit the storyworld. While there are many puzzle paths to be taken, each is intuitive and flows logically from one step to the next.
Being designed and built entirely in-house, Lucky Dice Diner showcases Expedition Escape’s vision moving forward. High quality scenic pairs with a unique story and perfectly on-theme puzzling to make this a very memorable experience. The end result is a game that is perfect for medium to large groups of novice players or smaller groups of seasoned escapers. Our team of two fairly experienced players needed every one of the sixty minutes allocated to locate Johnny’s dice – a sign of a very well designed game!
