60out proves that solving a murder can be a bloody good time!
You and your fellow homicide detectives have been entrapped by the psychotic doctor who moonlights as a lucrative serial killer. Your goal is to solve his puzzles to escape the room before he comes back.
It’s a classic murder mystery set at the scene of the crime, full of surprises and blood. A whole lot of blood.
Doctor Psycho makes us the lead detectives on this case, actively thrusting us into the storyworld from the moment we literally see ourselves in the game’s preshow video.
Entering the room wearing our agency credentials, there is no doubt that we are a very important part of the narrative here. It became easy for us to feel as though we were acting out our own roles in the unfolding adventure.
How much blood is in the average human body? Around 1.5 gallons? Then by the looks of things, this psycho Doctor has killed a LOT of people.
Doctor Psycho exists within the medical lab of our titular character, including secret spaces and hidden surprises. It is without a doubt 60out’s bloodiest, goriest game – a fact that Doctor Psycho embraces even in its puzzle design.
The space is authentically foreboding, dripping with as much evident sense of danger as the blood itself. This is a storyworld that is easy to get lost in. And if you’re not careful, perhaps even some fresh, wet blood stains on your hands.
From start to finish, our hunt for Doctor Psycho was a logical and intuitive adventure that remained fun and satisfying. Puzzles carried that elusive “ah ha” moment of realization once solving them – providing a satisfying challenge for experienced players like ourselves without becoming too overwhelming for a newer audience.
Everything connects to the storyworld, and as mentioned above, some of the puzzles even embrace the bloody character this game sets for itself. We’re not talking just painted on blood here; Doctor Psycho will push your limits by interacting with very real (looking) blood in a very real way. You may also find yourself – like us – realizing that you’ll be hard pressed to return to a standard padlock once you’ve had the opportunity use corpses instead.
This game is just the challenge the doctor ordered.
Due to its theme and the amount of gore involved, Doctor Psycho may not be suitable for all audiences. However – the simple truth is an aversion to blood should be your only reason to consider skipping this game.
True to form of all the newest batch of 60out offerings, Doctor Psycho is an experience that is both incredibly immersive as well as incredibly satisfying. It creates a total package product unlike many the Los Angeles market can boast – making this easily one of our favorite games in town – something we find ourselves saying a lot lately when discussing 60out as a brand.
Doctor Psycho is the kind of game we look for – a solid blending of story-driven moments, great scenic and puzzles that organically build the narrative. And though we hardly think even an apple a day will keep this Doctor away, it’s a visit you definitely should schedule soon.
