Story

When Robert Quinlan identified his newest victim, Room 303 was the room he always checked them into. To an unsuspecting guest, the room looked like any other ordinary vintage hotel room. However, it was one part of the hotel that Robert had specially modified to allow him to spy on his guests through hidden peepholes and secret passageways.

You are Robert’s next victim and have found yourself in the room where so many before you started their final horrifying journey.

Can you escape the clutches of this Psycho or will you meet the same torturous fate as Robert’s 19 other victims?

Room 303 is where your nightmare begins.

The Blackmore Hotel, constructed in the 1940s, was a destination for many visiting the centennial state. Guests checked in and expected an unforgettable stay, and unforgettable it was. Room 303 is the place the hotel owner would lead unknowing victims.

After one of Robert Quinlan’s victims managed to escape, he was arrested, and a subsequent search of the hotel in 2006 seemingly brought an end to his reign of terror. From then on, the halls sat empty, rooms left dark, and that old tarnished brass bell at the check in desk left untouched, waiting for a hand that would never come. The building would be left quiet having no future in sight. This was very much the case until the day a passionate couple purchased the building. Their idea was to create an escape game set in the same room Robert led victims.

The Homicide Hotel escape game based on Robert Quinlan’s terror is now open! On arrival, ding the bell at the front desk to check in for room 303. As guests make their way into the room, the game begins leaving them to discover clues and solve puzzles in an attempt to get out before being trapped in the hotel forever.

Scenic

Once checked into the Blackmore, sorry, Homicide Hotel, step into Room 303. From the very first glance, everything expected of a high end 1940’s hotel is inside: a study with a desk and upholstered chair alongside the brass coat rack, a bedroom with original bed sheets and lamps. Even the nightstand drawer has the bible seen in every hotel. The bathroom stocked with toiletries, waiting for the next guests. This room is nearly the same as the day the first guests checked in.

Even though everything is original to the hotel, much of the room is in poor shape. The walls peeling from water damage, old and worn furniture, and those vintage crystal faucet handles make it clear the building was left behind following the murders.

Even with the hotel’s age, the new owners took their time ensuring that almost everything was in working condition for this escape game attraction. If guests ever need anything, the phone is right on the nightstand to call the front desk.

As visitors work to escape the Homicide Hotel, a secret passage is revealed—one Robert Quinlan used to stalk his victims. As bad as the guest amenities are, behind the scenes  the hotel’s true condition is even worse. The walls are crumbling, covered with cracks and water damage, stained by the decades of neglect. This space was never meant to be seen by guests—only by their lifeless bodies.

Puzzles

Those thinking they have arrived at a Homicide Hotel to play an escape game may be surprised to not see traditional “escape game” puzzles. Everything in this game is integrated into the hotel setting, with puzzles built around some of the most commonly found items like an alarm clock, safe, and TV. The clever mechanics within seemingly unaltered items brings purpose to fun interactions as guests work to escape the hotel in time.

Several puzzles are followed by dialog and effects to advance the story and build tension. It’s rewarding to see the narrative unfold with each challenge solved. As the puzzles continue the story, guests may find themselves in a state of shock as an unexpected twist changes everything. And if that doesn’t shock visitors, what they see next might just do the trick.

Later in this horrifying journey, guests uncover the peepholes and contraptions Robert Quinlan rigged into Room 303. Familiar surroundings find new meaning as puzzles take shape in unseen ways. Each mechanism unveils the chilling intentions and twisted mind of the killer.

Overall

Walking into Room 303 of the Homicide Hotel, guests are immediately drawn into an unsettling environment fueled by the terrors of the past. Even as things may seem to be relics of the 1940’s, there is a much darker story behind closed doors and on the other side of walls. Gameplay blends into the environment by favoring objects and furniture already found in the hotel. By the end of this desperate search for a way out, only two options remain, discover the secrets unbeknownst to all but Robert Quinlan—or die trying.

Throughout this “escape game”, a multitude of effects are employed to drive suspense the entire time. With every sound, lighting shift, and reveal, each moment inside Room 303 conveys the urgency to get out.

What seems like a thrilling experience driven by the morbid curiosity of a Homicide Hotel escape game, players are let in on a dark secret by Quinlan himself. As stakes rise, visitors are left to question what’s real and what’s part of the game. No one would ever expect a twist like this; Room 303 pulls it off flawlessly, stunning guests by the unexpected turn of events.
