Welcome to an enchanted world where casting magic truly has no age limit!
You are in a wizard’s tower looking for a well-hidden secret of eternal life, and you have only 60 minutes to escape.
The story, on paper is a bit light. You’re in the tower. You’re looking for the thing. Escape because escape room. But Wizard’s Tower is a classic case of why young sorcerers should never judge a spell book by its cover.
Once inside the door of this tower, the story is rich, and quickly we’re swept up to become key characters within it. This world of magic is truly special, because this time, Maze Rooms really does aim to appeal to a much younger audience set.
Wizard’s Tower is all about embracing the younger witches and wizards in your magical world, while making those of us with much longer, much whiter beards feel young at heart once more. And like the flick of a wand, Maze Rooms creates magic – even for our experienced group of grown-up players.
Wizard’s Tower exists across two enchanted rooms – first a library stacked with powerful spell books, among other oddities. With stained glass windows lining the walls and vibrant tapestries draping from the corners, the space is overflying with a medieval whimsy.
A hidden secret passage is sure to inspire the younger wizards and witches in your group as it reveals the path toward an even more magical space. The potions room, centered around a bubbling cauldron is littered with all the ingredients needed to cast a special spell.
It’s no secret that we aren’t the biggest fans of vinyl printed graphical wallpapers, and as such, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention its inclusion throughout the potions room. However, where Maze Rooms did quite well was in the lighting department, using moody, dim throws of vibrant color to create a glow around the space enchanting enough to make even the wallpaper a tad be more forgiving.
And at the end of the day, in a game geared towards a younger demographic ripe with imagination, there will simply be no question that this castle is as real as the magic they’re about to cast with their own wands.
Wizard’s Tower comes to life through it’s puzzles, creating an endearing blend of tasks that will still be fun for the grown-ups, but an absolute blast for the kids. Our very experienced group at no point felt this game was “too easy.” We remained engaged until the very end – and found it to be one of Maze Rooms more creative and endearing offerings.
Without a single puzzle for puzzle’s sake, every step of the journey for young wizards will tie directly into the storyworld. Needless to say, this creates a wonderful level of immersion that makes Wizard’s Tower all the more “real.”
But it’s the finale that truly makes Wizard’s Tower shine – where young witches and wizards will be tasked with collecting fantastical ingredients while following a magical spell. Once literally mixed together inside a bubbling cauldron, they provide a truly enchanted surprise!
Los Angeles is a hotbed of escape game offerings, with many of our favorite games from across the country all calling the relatively small area home. But among these high ranking attractions that have become stuff of legend on Escape Authority, the one thing you simply do not find often are games that focuses on families, and, dare I say it, kids.
So many venues have gotten it in their heads that they simply must cater to the enthusiasts among us. Games need to be hard. They need to be intense. They need to be scary.
Listen, all of that is great – and for the right audience, all of that will be a big success for your brand. But key here is to recognize that audience as being but a percentage of the big picture. An even bigger percentage? Kids. And what better way to create the next batch of enthusiastic fans like you or I than to start them off in such a magical setting when they’re still young?
Can you imagine if Escape Games were a thing when *you* were growing up? I can. And if they were, Wizard’s Tower would be high on my kid-sized wish list.
