The reward for solving this mystery is your freedom!
Jillian is dead – her lifeless body found sprawled on the floor of her lonely apartment. Because you and Jillian were seen arguing heatedly with each other yesterday, YOU have suddenly become the prime suspect!
Of course, YOU know you’re innocent… But the only way to PROVE IT is to find out who the REAL murderer is!
You’ve been given access to the scene of the crime for one hour – to decipher the clues, solve the puzzles, and unravel the mystery behind Jillian’s death.
The police will be at the apartment in 60 minutes to take you away… You need to find out who the murderer is – and escape the apartment yourself – before they arrive!
Our team has been accused of murder! Instead of choosing to become fugitives, we plan on proving our innocence. To do so, we must identify the real murderer ourselves.
For whatever reason, our group of suspects is allowed to enter the apartment, which is a mystery within itself. Either the police are being incompetently generous or we are proficient in breaking and entering. To make matters even more baffling, someone has apparently created a series of puzzles for us to solve at the scene of the crime. Anyhow, if we do not successfully complete this mission, we will win ourselves a new home – a jail cell.
The game begins in Jillian’s studio apartment, which contains everything one would expect: a bed, tables (both dining and side), a bathroom sink with a mirror, dressers, and shelves to hold books and other household items.
The large amount of random objects found throughout the living quarters illustrates the victim’s love for various hobbies. It is quite possible that the murder is directly linked to one of those interests.
Even though the corpse has already been removed, one can still sense that a brutal murder has recently taken place. On the floor near the front door, the crime scene is decorated with tape and an outline of the body. This image serves to remind members of the accused party to get the evidence they need and leave the residence as soon as possible.
The challenges presented in The Scene of the Crime relate nicely to the game’s theme and storyline. The progression is mostly linear, and each puzzle reveals an important clue about the mystery of Jillian’s death. As the team of suspects move deeper into the adventure, they discover the murder weapon, the identity of the killer, and the reason for the murder.
The game relies on many standard combination and key locks. At first, this may seem overwhelming since so many items are scattered throughout the apartment. However, the tasks are not necessarily difficult to complete, and one often has a clear idea about what needs to be done at a certain point.
The Scene of the Crime is a fun and satisfying experience. Even though the storyline is somewhat preposterous, it is largely overshadowed by authentic scenery and cleverly-designed, relevant puzzles.
The adventure is appropriate for escape-game enthusiasts of all levels, and it is certain to thrill fans of the mystery/whodunit genre. So, the suspects need to get in touch with their inner detective skills and clear their names before its too late. By the way, players must be extra careful on what they handle throughout the quest. The reputation and freedom of the team may depend on it!
