When the realms of Story and Scenic forge together, the pinnacle of compelling of universes is created – and within lies the coveted title of Most Immersive. It is here that guests are no longer players within a game, but rather vital characters within a flowing storyworld, drawn into the narrative in such away that it’s possible to entirely suspend disbelief. It is here that the notion of “escape” transforms away from “escape the room” and into the infinite possibilities of “escape reality.”

The Séance
(Anaheim, CA)
A limited run experience in the fall of 2019, The Séance was created by the very same team behind the award winning Cross Roads Escape Games. Leaning more in the genre of immersive theater, this chillingly supernatural experience did include some light escape game-style puzzles along the way. Full of unexpected twists, turns and even some elaborate custom made puppets that brought evil spirits to life, The Séance delivered on its promise to immerse guests in a whole new way. It stands tall across other immersive, interactive attractions, while holding its own as a theatrical performance in the process. There’s no telling what may lie ahead in The Séance’s proverbial crystal ball, but we’re hopeful this paranormal gathering has not drawn its own death card quite yet.

July 11, 2020 – Escape Authority takes racially intolerant comments very seriously, and as such, in light of those recently made by the owner this former award-winning venue, we can no longer support, recommend or endorse this game. As such, this award has been removed.
This is not a political issue, nor is it a matter of opinion. This is an issue of respect and human decency. We need to do better as a people. The time for that is now.

In a category full of conversations about taking immersive interactions to the next level, none cross that line more than Miss Jezebel’s Tea Party. And we mean it; this game crosses every line imaginable. It’s offensive. It’s risque. It’s raunchy. It’s sexual. It’s uncomfortable. It’s daring. It’s bold. It’s absolutely hilarious. And it puts guests into intricately interactive, immersive one-on-one experiences as effectively as – and in some cases significantly better than – some of the Immersive Theater industry’s most beloved and iconic productions around the world. With Escape Game puzzles and Immersive Theater character engagements, Miss Jezebel’s Tea Party is the perfect hybrid attraction that will likely serve as the gateway bridging these two worlds – and their respective fan bases together as one. The Immersive layer of this experiences takes what would be otherwise simple puzzles and turns them into thought-provoking, outside the box challenges where more times than not, it’s the interaction itself that becomes the means to a solution. Miss Jezebel’s Tea Party may be an attraction restricted to audiences 18+, but it won’t take much more than an hour in her private residence to leave you smiling and satisfied.

With more than 1,000 games played across the site, being picked as one of the best three in the country is a well-earned honor to truly be proud of!
With so many deserving games worthy of recognition, our goal is to ensure these Keys To Greatness awards are attainable to all – not just those with blockbuster budgets that might be otherwise out of reach. As such, it’s important to note that we have, as much as possible, limited games to winning a single category – but every game will still be qualified to win the coveted Keys to Greatness – Best Game award, as well as the Keys to Greatness – Remote Play awards.
*Although the games I’ve personally designed are consistently very highly rated by both enthusiasts and newer players alike, I cannot in good conscience nominate an attraction I created. As such, those games and the venues that call them home have been intentionally omitted from consideration for any Keys To Greatness award.
